This

The
argument for September is not that maintenance is more effective then. It is
that the consequences of finding a problem are far cheaper.
Parts lead times
In
September, a supply house has inducer motors, control boards, and pressure
switches on the shelf. Same-day or next-day.
In

models go out of stock regionally. A control board that takes one day in
September can take a week in December. That is a week without heat, or a week

The safety checks
These
are non-negotiable. A technician who skips them is not doing an inspection.

There

The
tell is the equipment. A real inspection requires a combustion analyzer, a
manometer, and a multimeter. If a technician arrives with only a screwdriver
and a filter, no combustion analysis happened, no gas pressure was verified,
and no static pressure was measured. Those three tests are where the actual
findings come from.

Long
Island has an unusually mixed heating landscape. Heating maintenance in Suffolk
County looks different depending on what is in your basement, and a company
that only knows one system type will miss things on the others.
Natural gas forced air
The
most common setup in newer construction and converted homes. Annual service
centers on combustion quality, heat exchanger integrity, and airflow.

Oil-fired systems
Still
widespread across Suffolk, especially in homes built before gas mains reached
the street. Oil systems need more service, not less.
